Honey Oat Dinner Rolls

printable recipe from www.lolfoodie.com

Servings: Approx 6 rolls

  1. First, let the yeast get to working. Follow the instructions on the yeast packet. I had to add the yeast to warm water and let it set for 15 minutes, or until it started to foam a little. You can also buy “fast rising” yeast that doesn’t take as long.
  2. Add 2 tbs of the honey and stir it up until dissolved.
  3. In the bowl of the mixer, combine the water/yeast/honey mixture and the salt with the flour. Using the paddle attachment, mix on low just until combined.
  4. Now, switch to the dough hook attachment and mix on medium for 8 minutes.
  5. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and set aside for about 3 hours, or until the dough has doubled in size. You can leave it in the fridge overnight, if you wish.
  6. Once you are ready to bake the rolls, preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Remove the dough from the bowl, and place on a floured work surface. Pull off small sections and shape into balls; place a couple inches apart on a baking sheet. Brush each roll with some of the melted butter.
  7. Bake for 10 minutes, then reduce the heat to 350 degrees F and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes (or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through).
  8. Add the remaining honey to the melted butter mixture, and brush over each roll with a pastry brush. Sprinkle with oats.
